About the Job:
The IT On-Site Engineer is responsible for providing Level 2 support for the local IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless operation of hardware, networks, and IT services at the site. The role includes troubleshooting complex issues, identifying improvement opportunities, collaborating with the local Level 1 service desk, and coordinating with the regional infrastructure team for planning and implementation of infrastructure projects. The engineer will also play a key role in supporting business-as-usual (BAU) operations and executing site moves or major adjustments.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Support & Troubleshooting:
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues escalated from Level 1 support within SLA timelines.
• Provide Level 2 support for IT infrastructure, including servers, network devices, storage systems, and end-user computing.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes to recurring problems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and health checks on IT infrastructure.
• Manage and support Network assets, including configuration, upgrades, and replacements.
Collaboration & Communication:
• Work closely with the local Level 1 service desk to enhance support effectiveness.
• Liaise with regional IT teams to coordinate planned maintenance and infrastructure changes.
• Provide guidance and training to Level 1 support staff to improve issue resolution efficiency.
Infrastructure Improvement & Projects:
• Identify areas for IT infrastructure improvement and propose solutions to optimize performance and reliability.
• Participate in infrastructure planning and execution of projects related to site moves, expansions, or major adjustments.
• Assist in the deployment of new hardware, network components, and software in alignment with IT standards.
• Support IT security initiatives, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry best practices.
• Procurement of IT equipment.
Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, service requests, and resolutions.
• Create and update technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base articles.
• Provide regular status updates and reports to IT management regarding infrastructure performance and issues.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 3+ years of experience in IT infrastructure support, including hands-on troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of Windows servers, networking (LAN/WAN, switches, routers, firewalls), and storage solutions.
• Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) frameworks such as ITIL.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, etc.) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize issues, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel (<50%)
