Role Overview
We are looking for a Contract Manager in our GP2 site in Northampton (NN4 5FB), who is passionate about driving operational excellence, nurturing strong customer relationships, and leading teams with drive and integrity.

The Contract Manager will be responsible for organising and managing the operational, commercial and customer facing functions of the GP2 site, in such a manner as to provide the best possible service to the customers whilst operating within the economic constraints of the business, and also to adhere to both company and customer quality standards, while maintaining good staff relations and Health & Safety standards.


Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Control
a. P&L responsibility for the activities within the cost centres.
b. Directly manage the warehouse management structure and indirectly all operational staff across the site.
c. Ensure that any issues with meeting expectations are communicated both within Yusen Logistics business and to the customers.
2. Customer Service
a. Establish and maintain good customer relationships, acting as the initial escalation point for all customer queries.
b. Ensuring that professional and effective communication is maintained at all times.
c. Identify and recommend appropriate resolutions to customer queries.
d. Regular management information and accurate reporting (internal and external).
3. Team Leadership
a. Provide training, mentoring, and development opportunities for team members.
b. Maintain accurate organisation charts and job descriptions.
c. Communicate business outcomes and expectations clearly.
d. Promote employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives.
e. Ensure fair and consistent management of holidays, absence, performance, and disciplinary processes.
4. Health & Safety and Company Procedures
a. Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.
b. Lead a robust H&S agenda across the site.
c. Chair monthly H&S meetings with business partners.
d. Ensure equipment checks are compliant.
e. Promote best practice across contracts.
5. Continuous Improvement
a. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and customer service.
b. Identify and develop new logistics revenue opportunities.
c. Analyse and improve quality management systems
d. Promote Kaizen and Right First-Time principles

What You Will Bring To The Role:

• Proficient level of general education including written English
• Significant management experience, within a warehousing operation.
• Proven case studies of driving and implementing improvement initiatives
• Warehouse management professional with broad experience of modern facilities and WMS
• Experience of managing operations within an automated site
• Commercial awareness and cost management including budget responsibility and contractual understanding
• Demonstrates proven history of business improvement through analysis.
• Knowledge & understanding of effective customer & supplier relationship management principles
• Driving licence (regular travel to the customers’ premises will be required)
• Proven ability to interface with customers.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• IT – Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
• Extremely high degree of integrity.
• Ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective leader, with good values and work ethic
