About the Job:
We are currently seeking a professional Applications Architect to join our team. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role as both the architect and gatekeeper for the European IT application landscape. Reporting directly to the Application Solutions Director, the successful candidate will assume responsibility for overseeing and shaping the architectural aspects of our IT applications in the European region. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing software applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring that our technology solutions align with business goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Delivery:
• Align Yusen Logistics business processes with the (target) IT application landscape.
• Identify any gaps between the business processes and the IT application landscape and provide recommendations for addressing these gaps.
• Develop and uphold a common data model to be implemented across the European application landscape, encompassing both data and integration aspects.
• Create detailed documentation outlining the architecture of the applications.
Customer:
• Serve as a mediator, facilitating communication between business requirements and the conceptual/design phases.
• Collaborate with application owners to establish a cohesive and universally supported application landscape.
• Work alongside solution architects to share insights into application building blocks.
• Work closely with stakeholders, including business analysts and project managers, to gather requirements and understand business needs.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration.
Systems/Technology:
• Partner with Infrastructure architects and the Security team to ensure alignment between application architecture and infrastructure architecture, while ensuring compliance with security guidelines.
• Keep abreast of technological advancements and provide recommendations for their utilization to enhance the European Yusen application architecture.
• Oversee the entire application development lifecycle.
• Ensure applications are secure, scalable, and maintainable.
• Architect and design software applications based on business requirements.
• Collaborate with developers to implement scalable and robust solutions.
• Evaluate and select appropriate technology stack for application development.
• Stay updated with industry trends and recommend technological advancements.
Process and Governance:
• Establish and execute governance protocols concerning the architecture of the European IT application landscape.
• Assume accountability as the gatekeeper of the European IT application architecture.
• Participate as a member of the Application Solutions management team.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for application architecture.
• Communicate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Identify areas for process improvement and recommend solutions.
• Proactively assess and propose enhancements to existing applications
QUALIFICATONS:
• Holds a Master's degree or possesses equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an IT architect.
• Extensive experience working in a logistics environment, encompassing warehousing, transport, freight forwarding, etc.
• Practical proficiency in Enterprise Architecture (EA) modeling languages such as Archimate and/or Togaf, or equivalent.
• In-depth knowledge of various application architecture types, including object-oriented, service-based, microservices, and cloud computing.
• Demonstrates strong analytical skills, with the ability to think conceptually and abstract. Proficient in initiating designs from a conceptual standpoint.
• Demonstrating fluent communication across different organizational levels, effectively persuading others through engagement, depth of knowledge, and accessibility, the candidate is connected.
• The candidate exhibits reliability, teamwork, and accountability, showcasing commitment.
• Proactively engaging in continuous learning and problem-solving initiatives, the candidate demonstrates creativity.
• Exhibits proficient written and verbal English communication skills.
