We are seeking an HSE Advisor to join our current team. In this role, you will be able to help the HSE Business partners, senior business partners, and the wider HSE team in delivering the business's legal and compliance requirements. You will work in partnership with all stakeholders (internal and external) to provide support that drives the business risk strategy and legal compliance agenda, while also influencing colleagues to enhance the HSE culture across the organisation.

The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills, along with a strong appetite for process improvement, as we strive to elevate our safety culture to the next level.

The role offers a salary ranging from £35,000 to £40,000 (dependent on experience) along with a £5,000 annual car allowance. It is based in Derby (DE65 6BG) but will involve some travel to Leeds and Widnes.

Key responsibilities
1. Legal Compliance & continuous improvement
a. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support and advance the business risk strategy.
b. Provide expert guidance on legal compliance and risk management initiatives.
c. Ensure alignment with the company’s legal compliance agenda and overall business objectives.
d. Drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce organisational risk.
2. Operational Business Guide & Audits
a. Support the development and continuous improvement of the HS&E Operational Business Guide in alignment with the business risk strategy.
b. Assist in the communication, training, and implementation of the guide across the organisation.
c. Conduct audits in line with the business risk management framework (Three Lines of Defence) to assess compliance with the guide.
d. Identify strengths and ensure timely actions to address non-conformances.
3. Ad-Hoc Projects and Reviews
a. Undertake ad-hoc reviews and projects as directed by HSE Business Partners.
b. Support a range of tasks that vary based on business needs.
c. Gain exposure to diverse projects, providing a broad scope and valuable experience.
d. Attend relevant HSE meetings and collaborate with non-HSE colleagues to ensure key messages are clearly communicated and effectively supported.
e. Participate in and support project meetings from initiation through to completion.

Key requirements
• Understanding of the Logistics industry is an advantage.
• As a minimum, a NEBOSH diploma or equivalent qualification is required.
• Demonstrable CPD training to be evidenced (such as iPAF, training level 3, mental Health 1st aid, etc).
• A solid background in HSE-related activities, including training, person-based work, participation in HSE meetings, conducting risk assessments, developing safe systems of work, and leading toolbox talks.
• Practical experience in ISO14001, ISO45001 AND 9001.
• A working understanding of business processes and systems is required
