We are looking for a Transport Clerk based in our Leeds site (LS9 0SG) to work rotating shifts Monday to Friday 0600-1430/1200-2030. The position is offering the salary of £ 29436.75 per annum.
The position Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Transport Department, Dispatching and communicating with drivers, updating delivery times, and raising discrepancies to the contracts, whilst making sure all aspects of the operation are compliant with H&S, WTD and current legislation.

Key responsibilities:
• Accurate and timely allocation of resource and despatch of drivers in accordance with daily traffic plan.
• Monitor and arrange for replacement drivers, if required.
• Plan driver availability.
• Live Debrief of Drivers in a timely and professional manner.
• Be conversant with the GTS, ZEUS systems.
• Accurate and timely reporting of shortages to the customer, providing information at the earliest opportunity .
• To actively consider potential delivery problems and apply foresight and planning before they occur.
• To give advice on and apply the rules relating to Drivers’ Hours Legislation as and when necessary.
• Ensure all pre-use vehicle checks are completed and if necessary, any reported defects are resolved within a timely manner.
• To answer incoming telephone calls from drivers into the traffic office, following Stop Call Wait procedures.
• To reconcile any “refused” delivery telephone calls from drivers directly with the contracts / informing customer services.
• 5S compliance – Sort, Straighten, Sanitise, Standardise, Sustain
About You
To be considered as a Transport Clerk, you will need:
- Experience in a transport and/or warehouse environment
- The proven ability to interface with customers
- Good organisational skills and a detail-oriented approach
- The ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proficiency in IT, including Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
- DCPC
- CPC Qualifications an advantage
- Basic knowledge of Road Traffic Legislation
- Sound knowledge of Drivers’ Hours Legislation
- Ability to work under pressure & to deadlines
