We are looking for 2 Transport Operators in GP2.
The salary for this role is £26,262 + £400 shift allowance per annum.
The shift pattern for this role is a rotating shift pattern of 06:00 - 14:30 & 14:00 - 22:30
The Transport Operators will be responsible for actioning the daily transport delivery and collection plan. They will react in the necessary manner to overcome any operational issues that may arise through the course of the day and ensure impact is minimalised. The position holder will communicate issues to the relevant contracts and ensuring that the transport operation meets its service levels.
Key responsibilities:
1. Operations
• Timely allocation of resource and despatch of drivers in accordance with daily traffic plan.
• To monitor and arrange for replacement drivers, if required.
• To liaise daily with the planning department on driver availability.
• To understand the Yusen Vision system and be able to track deliveries & drivers.
• Full driver Pre-Brief.
• Live Debrief of Drivers
• To assist with any other duties within the traffic office as and when necessary
• To be proactive and be aware of potential delivery problems before they occur.
2. Compliance
• To give advice on and apply the rules relating to Drivers’ Hours Legislation as and when necessary.
• Ensure all pre-use vehicle checks are completed and if necessary, any reported defects are resolved within a timely manner.
3. HR
• Take minutes of Investigation / Disciplinary / Grievance meetings, if required.
4. Health & Safety
• Ensure all health and safety procedures are adhered to, including PPE, escalating any concerns to your line manager at the earliest opportunity.
5. Customer Services
• To answer incoming telephone calls from drivers into the traffic office and following Stop Call Wait procedures.
• To reconcile any “refused” delivery telephone calls from drivers directly with the contracts / informing customer services within Control Tower.
• To communicate any delays or failures to Contract Managers where required.
Key requirements:
• Basic knowledge of Road Traffic Legislation
• Sound knowledge of Drivers’ Hours Legislation
• Ability to work under pressure & to deadlines
• Problem solving skills
• Strong team working skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Flexible – Overtime / holiday & sickness cover
• IT literate (Excel, Word, Outlook)
