We are looking for a Transport Supervisor to be based at the Wythenshawe depot.
The position holder will be responsible for the operation of the Transport Department. They will provide an effective and reliable service whilst meeting all legal requirements.
The position will offer a salary of £30,675.21 plus a shift allowence of £800 per year and will follow a PM shift pattern of 12:30 -20:30. However, these times may be amended in line with operational requirements.
Key responsibilities:
1. Operations
• Root cause analysis of any variance to service level agreements and following investigation introduction of countermeasures.
• Control of defect process ensuring repair and sign off to enable full auditable history.
• Ensure adherence to contractual obligations via KPI implementation and management.
• Management of vehicle and equipment resource across YLUK to ensure contractual and customer requirements are met.
• Toolbox talk briefs undertaken and documented.
• Ensure that the transport operation complies with all legal requirements within the Road Haulage Industry and with Company policy and procedures.
• Management and control of direct & indirect staff holidays.
• Operational control of all weekend resourcing and planning.
2. HR
• Ensure compliance and management of all company policies (i.e., grievance, disciplinary. Etc).
• Carry out regular reviews with direct staff following the company PDR procedure.
• Encouragement, development and mentoring of direct operational staff.
3. Health & Safety
• Ensure compliance in relation to all Health & Safety aspects of the operation and continuously improved where possible.
4. Finance
• Control of driver hours and overtime; effective monitoring to reduce costs throughout Transport.
Key requirements:
• Experience in a busy Transport operation department
• Knowledge & understanding of effective customer relationship management principles.
• Managing, motivating, coaching, and developing teams.
• In-depth knowledge of Transport legislation and regulations
• Open minded and able to embrace and influence change.
• Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Ability to make decisions in absence of upper management
• Good communication skills
• Good IT skills (Excel, PowerPoint)
• Flexibility with hours, shifts and location
